Sorry pups, that doesn't read Frisbees, but those are fun too! Here we will post Freebies from time to time! We enjoy giving you things whether that's a new Canine Cookie Recipe to Try out at home, or a screensaver, who knows what else may show up here!
Have you ever asked "Who doesn't like Christmas Cookies" and heard a response? NO!!!! Everyone likes Christmas Cookies, and that includes your Canine Hero!

So we wanted to give you a Christmas Cookie Recipe for your dog that is COMPLETELY Canine Safe! On top of that, it's healthy (shhh, don't tell Fido!) and they're RED and GREEN, who doesn't like that!

We couldn't resist trying out these cookies with Beet Root Powder and Organic Spinach Powder, and voila.... they're ADORABLE!!!
Above is the Spinach Version of this recipe, and it sure holds it's green colour even after baked!
These cookies use pantry staples: Brown Rice Flour, Egg, Organic Honey, Peanut Butter (make sure it doesn't include xylitol or 'birch sugar') and a banana. Likely the only thing you'll need to order is Spinach Powder and Beet Root Powder. We ordered ours from Amazon, because let's face it, going out this time of year for someone with a Service Dog for PTSD can be really unnerving and anxiety provoking. This is the reason, after all, that Canine Cavalry even exists.

This time of year, while for many is very Merry, it can be anxiety provoking for those of us with PTSD/Veteran Service Dogs. There are more people who think they are being funny or trying to make a connection by asking us questions like "why do you have that dog?", "can anyone just get a Service Dog now?" (we have invisible injuries), or making silly comments. All of these can cause incredible anxiety symptoms for us, and for many, we choose to stay home and do our Christmas Shopping earlier in the year, online or even for curbside pick up.

Anyway, here are the links to the Spinach Powder and Beet Root Powder we used. Oh, we even bought our Brown Rice Flour here too, as it was cheaper than the big box stores in our cities. **We do not received any monetary compensation for providing these links, we just want to help you!**
Yep, you guessed it! Part of our Business is to be advocates and ambassadors for Service Dog Teams because we have seen so much more intolerance and misunderstanding in the year that we have been paired with our Canine Heros, the dogs that saved our lives. We are here to make cookies for all the good boys and girls (and they're all good boys and girls), but we are here to educate and hopefully make it easier for all of us to live together in peace and without judgment. PSA Completed. Back to COOKIES!!

DOGGO PUPCAKES
Well who woulda thunk there's a National Cupcake Day! I mean, we aren't complaining, who doesn't like a good cupcake every now and then! So thank you December 15th, for being our Cupcake Day! Maybe you're baking cupcakes for the family and wanted to make some for your Canine Hero too? Or maybe you want to bookmark this page for your Hero's Birthday, either way, these are tried and tested by the CEOs at Canine Cavalry, the Chief Eating Officers, and we have been told they are mighty tasty!

INGREDIENTS
2 bananas, we like over-ripe ones
1/2 cup Peanut Butter (xylitol and birch sugar FREE)
1/3 cup honey
2 eggs
1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour or oat flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup water

INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 350F. Like a muffin pan (12) with cupcake liners (we use parchment liners). Place bananas in a bowl of stand mixer with paddle, and mix until they are smashed. Add peanut butter, honey, eggs and oil, and cream together until smooth. In a separate bowl, mix together flour and baking powder, and add to the wet mix. Add water slowly and beat until smooth.
Divide batter evenly, about 3/4 fill the muffin tins.
Bake for 22-24 minutes until the top is golden or a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Transfer to cooling rack and cool at least 30 minutes before frosting.

PUPCAKE FROSTING INGREDIENTS
1 lb while potatos, peeled, boiled and mashed
2 tbsp honey
1/2 cup plain greek yogurt, or sour cream
2-4 tbsp water

INSTRUCTIONS
Peel and boil potatoes for about 20 minutes until they are very, very soft. Drain and return to the pot, add honey, yogurt/sour cream and water and use a hand mixer to beat the frosting. Mix for 1 min on low speed, increasing all the way to high speed until you have a smooth and creamy consistency. You can add more water if needed.
You can also add 1 tbsp of dried peanut butter powder for more flavour, you'll need more water in this case. We have also added beet powder or spinach powder to the frosting to have red or green frosting. Use a piping bag with a star tip (any tip will do) and pipe the frosting on the cupcakes. Top with one of our Peanut Butter Banana Cookies or Pumpkin Peanut Butter Cookies for that crunchy mouth-feel!
